11-24-03 (6:15pm) the vg is back from ann arbor / toledo and has a full day of work under his belt and is ready to catch up on all things buckeye. obviously i am a little pissed off at the outcome of this past weekend but at least we showed some heart and made it a game after giving up those first three touchdowns. oh well. anyways the game has been gone over by everyone by now so i don't see much point in me going over it, instead i am going to describe what was my wacky weekend adventure. this tested well at work today so hopefully it translates into a decent update for a change.
anyways i got off work early friday and the crazy bearded guy was already waiting to get on the road. we called up doctor doug and let him know we were on the road by 5 and should be pulling into toledo sometime around 8 or so. we got up to toledo with no problems and had a good night of drinking and some fat ass steaks. all was good and the buckeyes were just hours away. doctor doug's fiance (also a doctor) was working in the hospital friday night from 6pm to 6am. she got home a little early, took a quick power nap, and we were all in the car and ready to head to michigan slightly after 7am. that is when all hell broke loose.
the trip from toledo to ann arbor should take maybe 45 minutes to an hour based on our 2001 trip from the same address so we figured to have plenty of time to find a parking space and drink some serious beers before heading into the big house. long story short traffic sucked ass as michigan had zero police officers directing traffic that we saw. it was 10:30am and we still weren't in ann arbor (i think we were in ypsilanti). we were getting nervous about making it to the game and doctor doug was getting pissed off behind the wheel. we saw some people ditching their cars on a side street and just walking it. we didn't think there was any chance of us making it through traffic and to the game on time so we ditched our car (and the cooler full of beer) at the next available side street and started the walk stone cold sober.
being 10:30am we had an hour and a half until kickoff and we weren't even in ann arbor yet. we started the walk and it was brutal. me and doctor doug kept pushing the pace but his fiance and the cbg were wearing boots and were having serious difficulty keeping up with with us. anyways we made it to the game just in time. the lines to get into the stadium were long but i made it in with a few minutes to spare. i was trying to get around the stadium and to my section (section 19, goal line seats) but the lines to get into each gate were really long and there was no getting around them, you had to crash through a line at each gate until you got to your gate. anyways i was crashing through line after line with no problems until i ran into an asshole. this little fat ass dude let about 10 michigan guys crash through but told my scarlet and gray clad ass that i couldn't make it through. i guess he forgot he was a pussy or something and didn't realize that i am 6'4" 240 pounds and highly motivated to make it to my seats on time. i told him 'i am going to ask you nicely once to let me through' and he just turned his borderline midget fat ass to me and started laughing with his buddies. i said 'we can do this the hard way if you want to' and i went to town. i put up both of my hands kind of like a guy trying to show a ref that he isn't holding (that way i can say i never layed a hand on him, pushed him, or punched him) and then decided to move the pile. the little fat ass dude was no match for me as were the other 8 or 9 people that got knocked around as i pushed through. the little dude tasted some pavement with one knee and some chick started whining about not pushing people around but that was it. honestly it is probably a dick move by me to force my way through the line like it was some light weight blocking sled but the little midget fat ass left me little choice thanks to the inadequate traffic control by michigan. they got what they deserved i figured.
then there was the game and we all know what happened there. i was honestly treated very well by the crowd in my section generally (like maybe 60% of the time). they were all older types though and that is probably why. sure i got insulted and taunted and kneed in the back a few times but nobody was stupid enough to get serious with me about any of it. i even talked to some of the michigan fans to my immediate left about the game. i asked them (and probably damn near two dozen other michigan fans) if they were alums and none of them were, they all felt it was 'great, to be, a michigan wannabe' (at least that is how i thought their chant went after the game). anyways the guys sitting next to me were from toledo and just liked michigan to be different they said. i wanted to tell them they shouldn't have given up after the first five or six ass humpings and gave being gay a longer try but i was nice about it and just shook my head in disbelief instead.
i waited until the game was officially over and the crowd started chanting over rated over and over again before trying one of the maybe 40 aisles that let all 112,000 people out of the stadium. it took maybe another 40 minutes for me to work my way up another 40 rows and to the exit. me and the cbg then hooked up with doctor doug and his fiance and started the walk back to the car. the walk was another hour and a half and it sucked about a hundred times worse walking out of ann arbor as a loser. we got taunted by tons of pussies that were feeling tough in their cars driving by but that was to be expected, afterall most of these students had never experienced a win over OSU and didn't yet know how to win with class. anyways we got back to our car finally and got the hell out of that sad excuse for a state.
we made it back to toledo and decided that we needed some grub. doug's women was dead tired after working 12 hours then riding in the car for three and a half hours, then walking an hour and a half, watching the bucks lose, walking another hour and a half, and then riding home for 45 minutes. she crashed out and us three sober losers decided to head out to the outback steakhouse for some more steaks and lots of drinks. the outback was packed as usual and we went up to the bar and waited for either our name to be called or to snag a table by the bar. the beers were good but the scene at the bar was better. the vg was sitting by a pretty decent looking older babe (best guess 38 years old) and she was with two dudes (chumps was my original assessment). anyways i was minding my own business, pounding some beers and bullshitting with the cbg and doctor doug about our bowl possibilities. then the chick next to me asks the bartender for a fork and some salad dressing on the side. the bartender asks a waitress for a fork and a 'monkey dish' of salad dressing. the dude next to the chick asks what is a monkey dish and the chick says 'obviously you never worked in a restaurant, a monkey dish is .....'. she starts answering the question and the dude just flips out. he bursts out 'just shut the hell up'. she doesn't and louder this time he goes 'just shut the hell up'. i was expecting some domestic violence soon but then we saw a table open up and snagged it, i had no idea what happened with those two. i did see that the dude was all decked out in scarlet and gray and he was probably just pissed off about the loss. oh well.
the steaks were good as usual and we took off and headed back to the home. we got back to doug's house and had some more drinks and then crashed after watching all the late games. i passed out on the couch and then it happened. it was, i don't know, maybe 3 or 4am and i was woke up with some miscellaneous mouth action. i was getting frenched in my sleep (sort of like frank the tank in old school but i wasn't reciprocating) when i came to to find out it was their giant dog licking the inside of my mouth. it was pretty gross. i shoved the dog away from me and rolled over and crashed back out. later that morning i was woke up in the same manner by the same damn dog only this time while everyone else was watching. perfect end to a perfect weekend i guess. never thought out i would make out with a real life canine dog. oh well, i never thought michigan would win this year either.
anyways that was my trip to michigan, it pretty much sucked all around. i can't wait until these bastards come to my stadium next year so i can show them what is really up. anyways that is is all i have in me today. i got a hot date with a pit bull later tonight so i need to get ready. more after work tuesday.
11-19-03 (7:45pm) not much going on with me tonight other than boredom and general fatigue. it was a long day at work and i expect more of the same the next couple of days. there was a decent pic of jim tressel in the DDN today that i have seen people trying to blow up to wallpaper size. unfortunately when blowing up pics you lose quality and the pic gets blocky. i tried to blur some of the blockiness down and other rookie photoshop tricks and the thumbnail below is what i was able to do in about a solid four minutes of work. if you click on the little thumbnail pic you will see it in full size. if you were to want to use this pic for you wallpaper right click on this larger pic and then select set as background (or something like that) and you are done.
anyways i am ready to relax and have a beer or two before heading to bed. enjoy the pic and the anticipation of beating michigan saturday.
11-18-03 (11:50pm) the vg is finally able to log into his tripod acount. something was fishy at tripod the past few days as the page has been unavailable from time to time and i haven't been able to log into the upload part of the server (either thru the web or ftp). anyways it is back in action and so am i finally.
this week is michigan week, make sure you show your ohio state spirit like this lovely lady osu cheerleader from the late 80's on the right. osu - michigan is all i am thinking about at work this week (other than the usual things...). we have one michigan fan at work still (at least he was born in michigan and lived there over 20 years unlike these ohio turncoat michigan fans). anyways i had a real simple choice today that would impact his day. without going into depth about the plastic business either it was going to be an easy day for him or a hard day. it honestly didn't matter at all to the company which way i chose so i stuck the UM supporter with some crappy stuff to do to get it out of the way early in the week. yea, it is that serious for me. if anyone else out there has a michigan fan at work (especially one from ohio) try like hell to make their life difficult if you can. trust me it is fun.
speaking of fun, time to bust out a few more fun pics real quick. here are a couple of photoshop specials from fans of the site. enjoy.
those pics were all doctored up in photoshop and are just for fun. this next pic is real and should serve as a warning to all osu tailgaters heading up to ann arbor. basically watch out for these two homo sapiens. they may just try to do their michigan offensive line (the a-holes) imitation during the anthony thomas (the a-train) era and open up some gaping holes. don't let them open up your stuff. you were warned. anyways that pic is on the right and damn is it real unfortunately.
man that last pic was a little fruity for me so i need to overcompensate with another pic of a hottie that is borderline osu related. i close tonight with the pic below sent in by a reader of the site. he was at a strip club and got a nice pic of adult superstar jenna jameson on his lap wearing a buckeye hat. all the good parts (other than the osu hat) are blurred out because america is way too uptight of a place. enjoy the pics and get your game faces on. saturday is war and we are all freaking soldiers baby.
enjoy the pics and more late night wednesday (tripod permitting of course).
enjoy the pics and more late night wednesday (tripod permitting of course).
11-16-03 (6:25pm) michigan week is here. the buckeyes did their part in making the most out of michigan week by hanging on to beat purdue in overtime 16 - 13. again the bucks didn't look impressive on offense and again we didn't impress any pollsters and again we just win. 10 and 1 sounds pretty good to me right now but 11 - 1 is sounding even better. the vg and cbg will be in ann arbor for the big game saturday doing what we can to help out with the crowd noise for the buckeyes.
i was pretty nervous about the game yesterday going in and i was much more so when i saw guys like will smith, fred pagac, alex stepanovich, and rob sims come off the field early banged up. fortunately most of the guys gutted through the pain and played on to victory. i was also quite nervous when we got the field goal blocked and then had to settle for another field goal in the overtime. i thought for sure purdue was going to hit paydirt for a TD but the defense held strong and forced the field goal opportunity which we all know was choked wide left by purdue. you gotta give purdue a bunch of credit for the type of game they played limiting the buckeye offense to virtually nothing and moving the ball fairly well from time to time with the short passing game. purdue gave us everything they had and we took it and now need to prepare for michigan.
lots of talk about this being one of the best michigan teams of all time with the talented offensive line and the balanced offense. i for one am not buying it. the buckeyes will probably be a 6 - 9 point underdog when it is all said and done and i want a piece of the buckeyes and the points big time. i don't see chris perry running wild on us at all and i am eager to put the game in john navarre's hands to win or lose. anyways more on that as the week unfolds.
the big news of the day though is the verbal of florida athlete dajuan morgan. morgan isn't playing football as a senior due to an inury with a drunk driver but he is still being recruited by all the big boys and was obviously impressed with campus this weekend. he still plans on taking some other visits so this may not be over yet but as of now it is looking good for us.
anyways i am damn hungry and ready to go grab some grub. more after work monday. enjoy being 10 - 1.
11-13-03 (10:30pm) another long day for the vg is over and i am in full relaxation mode. feet are up, sweatpants are on and i got a 6 pack of 16 ounce miller lights (in the plastic bottle of course) and they are going down like lloyd carr in search of those oral commits, smooth as always. i honestly have no plan for this update other than to mention the again updated video archive so lets see what i can whip out tonight.
for starters i posted three more clips of ted ginn jr from the massillon perry game this year. for those who haven't ever seen ginn you gotta check him out on film, the dude is blazing fast and has that certain something when the ball is in his hands, kind of like lloyd carr with the balls in his mouth i guess. anyways the newest videos are at the end of the archive as always, the link is in the upper left hand corner and the how to guide is linked a few links below that as the video faq.
i have tons of video still to compress and i was thinking which game tape would i most like to pour over for a few hours. i put some thought into it and i really wanted to see the game tape of javon ringer and dayton chaminade-julienne against massillon this year. ringer got screwed by the refs at massillon a couple of times (being whistled down for lack of forward progress as he was busting tackles and ready to put up probably damn near a hundred points on an unusually untalented and small massillon squad; on a related note massillon games have the best home field advantage as far as refs are concerned i could imagine, maybe we should get them into the big10 for our home games). anyways you gotta see this ringer film, some of it is amazing. probably ted ginn jr, erik haw, and javon ringer put on the best performances i have seen this season. sure it helps to have the ball in your hands to get some good highlights but you have to do something with the ball and man did ringer do it to massillon. i am leaving town this weekend and next (purdue and michigan, duh) so i am not sure when i will get the ringer footage capped and ready for the net but trust me it will be worth the wait.
javon ringer looked a little bigger this year and much much tougher between the tackles. massillon just couldn't wrap him up and bring him down. he bounced off the first man regularly and often bounced it outside after contact in the middle for big gainers. personally i am not a fan of smaller backs generally but ringer seems like he could develop into the current NFL trend of 5'10"ish 200 plus pound tailbacks and cash a paycheck or two in the league. i haven't heard any word about osu recruiting him but he seems to fit the profile of JT recruit and the talent is obvious on film.
with my travels planned out for the next two weeks i imagine i won't be on the website much the next couple of weekends so i hope to step up more during the week. the morning update was just killing me with the new job so i may get more and more away from linking articles that any dumbass with a bad back and an insiders.com affiliation can link and work more on getting drunk and seeing what i can do to add something different to the osu web scene. another thing i will be missing out on the next two weeks are the high school playoffs. i may still be able to attend some of the state championship games the weekend after michigan in my stomping grounds but it would take a nice prospect or two to get my ass out in the bullshit weather lately, afterall i pack away the camcorder in poor weather anyways so i doubt i will get much film and i can see the games on ONN while drinking my body weight in beer (which is approximately 238 before i started munching on the pringles and the drinking tonight).
whenever i go down to visit the irish patent attorney for college football weekends i thouroughly enjoy hanging out in the basement and watching all the games on the tv's and drinking obviously. another thing i really enjoy down there is the reading material. the ipa is a big fan of the mens magazines like fhm, stuff, and maxim and i gotta say i like em too (fhm is probably the best month to month). anyways i wanted to share a line from the fhm that i found funny as hell. i can't remember exactly how it went but this is the gist. a guy goes up to a chick with a smoking ass and says, did someone shove a keg up your ass because i want to tap that. i would love to try that someday and think the likely smack i would get would be well worth the look of shock on (insert hottie's name)'s face when i bust it out. i don't know if i have the balls to do it though. we'll see.
two michigan fans were fired from work this week as we try to class up the joint. we still got one though and one of his more immediate supervisors warned us about getting into it next week. at least this guy lived most of his life in michigan and has reason to be a fan unlike those ohio born and raised bastards we canned last week. this guy is cool about it and it is a friendly rivalry but honestly the more michigan fans in the unemployment lines and on welfare the better. the democrats will even take care of michigan fans.
speaking of michigan, i really hope lloyd carr keeps his job forever there. the guy is a mediocre coach with some good talent right now. with the complete lack of talent in michigan most years (aside from the occasional pepper johnson, lamar woodley, or kevin grady jr [this guy is going to suck playing in a few years from what i hear]) michigan can't afford to be a second or third rate team in their conference like they are quickly becoming. when you have to go out of state for talent due to the pussies that reside in your state sucking in high school football you have less margin for error. the only way i see michigan reversing the downward spiral that is their program is firing coach carr and bringing in some fresh blood. there are a few coaches out there that scare me (top of that list is tony dungy who is from michigan [the state not university or community college in east lansing]). we should all take a few bucks out of our wallet while in michigan and donate some cash to the save lloyd carr fund, he is one of ohio state's best assets.
quick prediction for this weekend. the buckeyes win a close one (shocker) something like 14 - 12. i see this one being a defensive struggle that won't impress anyone on tv that has never actually coached the game. the bucks will try to run the ball but i don't see us being better than average at best running at purdue. i think we will have to throw the ball a little bit (weather permitting) and continue to play defense that stifles like archie bunker to win saturday, but what the hell do i know anyway. my offensive and defensive coordinator experience is limited to the EA sports variety of the game so i will just make my prediction and shut the hell up.
final note before i get offline and grab another brew. i don't give a hell about the bcs. beat purdue and all will be good. protect the damn home turf buckeyes.
11-12-03 (8pm) yesterday was a rough day for the vg. minor car problems crept up again (getting my transmission flushed) and it was a long day of work again. today went a little better though and i am back in action. this weekend is the big purdue game and honestly i am scared a little bit. purdue plays that good defense and our offense is erratic best case scenario. we better play mistake free saturday or we can kiss our BCS chances goodbye along with any chance of beating purdue.
the vg and cbg will be travelling to michigan again this year next weekend with tickets in hand. our seats suck and they aren't together but we are thinking we can either trade those tix for two together or scalp them and buy a pair or something like that. worst case scenario we are in the stadium.
anyways there isn't much news out there today and i have been slacking off as of late so i might as well step up and post some more free video in the archive (check out the link in the upper left hand corner [check out the faq below it if you can't work through imagestation for whatever reason]). tonight i posted three short clips from the glenville massillon perry game early this year. one clip is a ted ginn tackle. ginn is widely believed to be a slam dunk buckeye verbal (most likely during the army all star game in early january). the other two new video clips are of glenville juniors freddie lenix and curtis smith. both are basic tackle highlights. lenix is number 7 and smith is number 3 if you haven't ever seen glenville before. anyways the new video clips are at the end of the archive as usual. i still have tons of film to post once i get it all ready for the net so that should keep me busier than usual.
anyways enjoy the film and i should have some more crappy info sometime after work thursday (hopefully i will have my car too). enjoy.
11-10-03 (5:10pm) after something like two and a half weeks off from the website i am checking in for a quick update. i have had a good time the past couple of weekends. me and the cbg travelled to columbus both weekends to party down with the irish patent attorney (who is suprisingly upbeat considering ND's record). the buckeyes have been playing fairly decent since my last update so i have nothing out of the ordinary stuff to bitch about so on to the future. this weekend is purdue. there is tons of talk about the bcs and rightly so with us now in striking distance but the focus has to be on purdue. the boilermakers are probably the best team we will play at home this season and are a serious threat to upset the buckeyes. you know what though, the team needs to focus on purdue, we are just fans and allowed to focus on whatever the hell we want.
right now the buckeyes are third in the BCS poll behind oklahoma and usc, at least that is what is projected to happen tonight. we are fourth in the human polls behind lsu and generally second in the computer polls. assuming all the major players win out we still have a chance to jump usc and defend our title like a champ. with purdue and michigan on the schedule the next two weeks we have by far the toughest remaining schedule out of the major players for all the nokias. again assuming we win out, that should be a huge boost to our strength of schedule, computer rankings and perhaps even our position in the voted polls. if we make up a point on usc by jumping lsu and also gain points in strength of schedule and computer polls this may just be enough to offset us being voted behind usc. the wild card here is the quality win bonus. if washington state were to win out usc would get a slight deduction in their total bcs points. osu only has two chances for a quality win bonus and both are slim chances at that. both purdue and michigan are possible top ten finishers even with a third loss to the buckeyes the next two weeks but we would need some help for that to happen. basically we need lots of teams ranked number 4 - 15 to lose and let either three loss michigan or purdue slip into the final top ten. ideally one of those ranked losers will be washington state too because i don't think we can overcome a point deficit in the voted polls and a sizeable quality win deduction for wasu being in the top 5 or so. anyways, we need another upset weekend or two still before we all start to join the sooners booster club and snag up their tix for the sugar bowl like we did with miami last year and their pathetic hurricane booster club.
in work news we used to have two die hard michigan fans up until last week when they both were terminated (for performance). i personally would have terminated both of them for being stupid enough to wear michigan crap in my presence but lucky for them i don't have anything to do with hiring and firing at my new job anymore. to me the rivalry is that serious. i used to do all the interviewing at the last plastics plant and often i would have on something somewhere on my body indicating that i am a die hard buckeye fan. i would always ask the guys if they were fans of college football and if so who was their team. you would be amazed at the number of michigan guys who never got a job due to their lack of basic observational skills (something very job related for factory work for the lawyers out there). anyways, they got what any ohio resident michigan fan deserves.
there hasn't been much going on in recruiting lately. with the high school football season winding down i would expect the recruiting news to pick up substantially. i still have way too much quality video to post as well as some decent stills too. i will be busting them out gradually after michigan, at least that is the plan. last weekend i saw columbus independence again and erik haw. haw again put on the show with a couple of long runs and solid but unspectacular running between the tackles. i was going to go check out st eds and warren harding saturday night but the cbg was way too drunk to go and i didn't feel like going by myself. oh well.
anyways, i just wanted to check back in for the first time in way too long and let you all know that i am still alive and drinking. my free time has been seriously limited lately but i plan on making more time for the website during the stretch run and of course for recruiting. i already plan on taking off national signing day to provide coverage all day long. anyways, more tuesday for sure. enjoy.
