dayton c-j's brandon harrison. check out this cornerback prospect in the video archive, right now there are only two clips but i am sure i can find some more if i actually tried for a change. 02-29-04 (3:55pm) i am off to go win some cash at a no limit texas hold'em tournament. i won a nice sized pot two weeks ago but i have been beaten badly my last three tournaments (i try to play two a week). today i am going to totally flip my style again. normally i am a very conservative player who doesn't bluff. lately i shook it up and was playing lots of hands with lots of bluffing. i think this tournament is on to my new style so i am going to show the aggression early and then flip to conservative and see what happens. we'll see.

i did post two more vids in the archive. they are a nice kick return by dayton c-j's brandon harrison and a little pass defense by harrison. both clips come from the 2003 massillon game. my next video update will probably also feature ringer and harrison only this time from their sophomore year. stay tuned for more and wish me luck and other people's money tonight. enjoy.
senior to be javon ringer of dayton c-j. 11 fresh video clips of javon in the video archive, linked in the upper left corner like usual. enjoy. 02-29-04 (1:40am) i did a bunch of computer work earlier today and my drinking is pretty much done for the day so i might as well put the work up on the net for all to see for free. today i compressed 11 short clips of javon ringer against massillon in the 2003 season. they aren't up to my usual editing standards since i have yet to get with the cbg and get all the good software i need to set up the video studio. instead i used the bundled software that came with the computer. oh well. the video quality is alright for mpeg1 files i guess but i got so damn frustrated trying to add any text to the clips that i just gave up and went without any text description. anyways javon ringer is the tailback and he is number 29 in all the videos.

some of the runs are pretty sweet. all three of the runs named cutback are incredible as are the two long runs. quick whistle is a run by ringer where he is stopped for a loss supposedly but i thought he was going to break it off but for the quick whistle. anyways check them out, they are free and entertaining.

the video archive is linked in the upper left hand corner of the page as always and my drunk ass isn't inserting a link into the text tonight so you will have to scroll up and look left. the newest videos are at the end of the archive and there are 11 of them there on javon ringer fresh tonight. i have lots of other film in there too if you haven't ever been in the archive before. you do need to sign up for a free sony imagestation account to get into the video archive. sign up is free and all you need to do is register with ANY valid email address that you can activate your account with. if you have privacy concerns with sony imagestation (they have been cool with me if it helps) just create a dummy email address with yahoo or hotmail and use it for registration / activation. if you have any problems downloading any of the film refer to the FAQ linked right under the video archive link. it should help you out enough to fix your football addiction.

anyways i got some frozen pizza ready to come out of the oven and i may drink one more bass ale tonight before calling it a night. tomorrow i doubt i will be online much but if i am i will have 2 highlights of javon's teammate brandon harrison to share with the buckeye nation. i do have a no limit texas hold'em tourney to play in at 5pm so if these vids are going online tomorrow it will be either early in the day or really late. good luck to me tomorrow and enjoy the film.
02-26-04 (11:55pm) frustrating past few days for the vg. i don't know what the hell i did but i am pretty sure i fried the motherboard on my computer pretty bad. i don't think you could have fried it any worse if you were trying to weld parts to the board. oh well, i was wanting to get a new computer for some time now so why not now. i picked up a state of the art box last night. top notch processor, lots of ram, a total of 280 gig hard drive, and most importantly hookups for my camcorder and a dvd burner for my computer. i now have no excuse for not posting any new vids other than sheer laziness so i hope to post some film of javon ringer this weekend for sure. i still have lots of film from last season that i have never gotten around to. i imagine i will never get around to posting my fred davis film, though i would like to put it into my recruiting dvd that i make every year.

speaking of the recruiting dvd, i will need to still hook up with the cbg to set me up with an audio mixer and a microphone and all the more advanced video software that i put on his computer for our video work. i will not be selling the recruiting dvd again this year, it is just for me, the cbg, the irish patent attorney, doctor doug, other friends in the real world and some of the friends of the site. who knows when i will get it done, but i took a large (financial) step towards it just wednesday.

the other video project i am working on is the entire 2002 osu season on dvd. i am hoping to use this as gifts for some of the buckeye fans in my life and so far i am still in experimental mode. i think i need to tweak up the audio and then fine tune edit the commercial breaks so i don't miss a frame of footage. after that it is menu creation time and then what i am most looking forward too, cover design. i am going to put these in regular cd cases and design a nice cover using some of the great photos from that season courtesy of the good people at the ozone and i also want to design the side of the case so that when they are all lined up there is a 2002 osu national championship logo. that way it will look good on the shelf too. big plans for the offseason, hopefully i can get it all done.

i don't have much of an update tonight so i am just going to continue to ramble on. i have started posting over at www.buckeyeplanet.com. i am using the name i use on all message boards that i am not banned from BIATCHabutuka. i really prefer the ozone message board and posters over all, but with my new job and extended work hours it just isn't the same replying to threads that are 8 hours old by the time i see them. i will still stop in there (i have been pretty much since the first year of that site with too many monikers to remember) but for now it is looking like more of a weekend or sick day type of thing for me. buckeyeplanet still lacks that critical mass to keep the board hopping non stop even in the off season but i imagine it will be there by fall camp at the latest and perhaps by spring camp which is coming up really soon. anyways, until i get off my lazy ass and get a new site email, feel free to ask me any questions over there. i will try to post there regularly to help build up their site for the good of the buckeye community. the recruiting board over there is already starting to become the top board for buckeye recruiting information.

anyways it is getting late and i need to to get some sleep before going into work friday. i am taking off this entire weekend and i think i will be taking off next weekend completely too. i also am planning on going to the stadium scrimmage april 17th, the osu nike camp that same day, and of course the spring game the 24th of april. otherwise though i will probably be in the plastic hut pretty much everyday though the end of april at the minimum and more likely all the way up until the fourth of july. last thing i wanted to pass along is a link to some video clips from the dave chappelle show. dave is probably the funniest thing going on these days and some of these clips are just must see. make sure you check out the r. kelly pee video, samuel jackson beer, the mad real world, and a few others if you enjoy laughing and what not. enjoy.
02-22-04 (11:55pm) another late night update and a half assed one at that again. oh well. this site has been getting an unusual amount of traffic as of late and i know the reason why, it is those sweet ass titties of fear factor champion monica. it seems as if there are tons of guys out on the web looking to enjoy those sweet cans in the privacy of their own home. anywyas who am i not to aim to please. there is another pic of them big ass tittays coming up this update but first i need to hit the football thing.

it seems as if the people at the corporate entity sucknuts.com (specifically the check casher mr bucknuts, kirk of questionably sexuality, and duane long the compulsive eater) are out banning more and more of the old time posters on their message boards. i myself was banned something like a year or two ago and i guess i am just too stupid to circumvent the childish programming of insiders/ezboards. i am sure the posters will be not forgotten and in fact they already have a home of their own (and they have for some time now) at www.buckeyeplanet.com. i have never posted there myself but i have been thinking about it. who knows maybe i will sign up and start posting over there now. i honestly prefer the ozone message board to all boards but their traffic is much much greater during work hours and i can no longer sit in front of a computer all damn day long during work hours with the new job so that isn't an option. for my after work posting needs i need a non scrolling message board like the one on bsb, bucknuts, or buckeye planet. i might as well support a site that isn't after my money. i do have some privacy issues and what not before i sign up over there so maybe i will finally set up a new site email (my one linked on this site is dead) and see what i can do to help out. of the recently banned posters (miliani and clarity) i remember miliani well and never had any issues with him at all. clarity i never really knew until i was banned. he tried to calm me down after my banning and i thought he was from the staff at sucknuts.com so i verbally sparred with him for an email or two from what i recall. anyways it looks like sucknuts viewed buckeyeplanet as a threat to the business (much like this crappy little site) so they banned the people behind it and pulled their link despite them not breaking any of their board rules (eerily familiar to the vg). anyways enough about that and on to some actual football.

the last time i was talking about football i think i was doing a half assed quickie preview of 2004. i believe that i did the offense now i need to hit the defense and special teams and the schedule. tonight i hit the defense. remember this is going into spring ball and not fall camp so recruits like ted ginn jr and chad hoobler and such aren't part of the equation though recruits like marcus freeman and more importantly anthony schlegel are. anyways some eye candy titties on the right and the buckeye defense on the left, the best of both worlds.

i was watching a dvd of 2002 osu michigan that i recently made with my new toy and i noticed that dustin fox is the only starter back from that championship defense. i know the 2003 defense still was pretty great but we are losing guys like will smith, timmy anderson, darrion scott, robert reynolds, will allen, and chris gamble all to the NFL. on the defensive line the only proven talent returning with any substantial PT is simon fraser. fraser started out last year like an all american and then got held for the rest of the year and disappeared somewhat (though since the refs didn't call holding i guess it was more cuddling, either way he was held). i expect an all big10 senior campaign from the big red head in 2004. simon should be the leader of the front four for sure. as for the other three spots, they are up for grabs. lots of talk about mike d'andrea on the web but none of it from the coaches so it must be blatant lies made up to sell subscriptions or something like that. at end opposite of simon the name most often mentioned is mike kudla. kudla looks like a talent but the guy i am most looking forward to seeing are jay richardson and marcel frost. i have seen richardson in person multiple times in practice and what not and he is impressive. i have yet to see marcel frost in the scarlet and gray but word is he is showing signs of greatness so i am excited there too. not that i am not excited about kudla at all but with his height and arm length he may be better served thickening up and sliding inside, who knows though certainly not me. speaking of defensive tackles marcus green and quinn pitcock are the most likely candidates to start at DT but don't forget about david patterson. patterson looked like an all american in waiting in his limited snaps as a true freshman and i anticipate he will be in the heavy rotation on the defensive front.

at linebacker the buckeyes are loaded. aj hawk is back at one outside slot. enough said. aj isn't going to be short of any press this year so i don't feel the need to further talk him up. at the other outside slot most agree it will be bobby carpenter and i tend to agree. BC looks like another all conference player before his time in columbus is over. he is very large and he can run. he will need to get more involved in the scheme like any younger player but he has all the tools and coaching to be an absolute stud for sure. at middle linebacker is the big question mark. i imagine mike d'andrea will start out spring ball as the starter though he has to be looking over his shoulder at will be probably listed as co-starter or something like that anthony schlegel, the big transfer from air force. i tend to think that schlegel will win the job and the fascination of the country and media and contend for the butkus award so i think he will win the job by the end of the spring. i still think d'andrea will be a major contributor to the team, perhaps in an early na'il diggsish role by playing outside linebacker and occasional stand up defensive end (or rush linebacker in a 3-4 type of look, say perhaps with kudla or another d-lineman dropping off into zone ala will smith). the depth at linebacker is big time. besides the four i have already mentioned we got indiana transfer and former iggy superstar john kerr as well as top shelf recruits like curt lukens and marcus freeman. we are loaded and then some at linebacker.

in the secondary i know one thing for sure. the four best tacklers will start and what position they start will not be as important as their ability to tackle in open space. i fully anticipate dustin fox being an all big10 performer at CORNERBACK with no thought at all by the coaches of moving him to safety. opposite fox it is a battle between ej underwood, ashton youboty and a few other guys (ted ginn is coming in the fall). i expect donte whitner to stay at safety and probably start opposite of returning starter nate salley. salley and whitner will give the buckeyes two of the hardest hitting safeties in the conference and honestly that doesn't mean a damn thing if they don't wrap up and make the easy tackles too. i fully expect them to be well coached in the form tackle and i don't see any problems at safety. as for depth we have tons of it here too. tyler everett is forgotten by nearly all the experts but not us stark county fans. tyler can ball with the best of them. we also havebrandon mitchell back at safety and he has some starts under his belt.

anyways it is late and that is all i have in me tonight. much much more throughout the week as i try to step up in this deadest of dead period for us buckeye addicts and entertain. enjoy them titties while you drool all over your keyboard fantasizing about them. more after work / dinner monday (probably after fear factor realistically).
02-19-04 (11:35pm) another late night update for the vg tonight. i bought this new dvd recorder / hard drive recorder for my television and i have been loving it. lately i have been poring through buckeye video tapes and seeing what i got and what i want to permanently archive off on dvd. recently i stumbled across a copy of the spring game last year and while i doubt i will be putting it down on dvd (or will i) i did dump it to the hard disk so i can watch it over and over and over again this offseason. one of the things i was most hoping to see last season didn't happen and that was an extended amount of playing time for justin zwick and troy smith. oh well. they did play extensively in the spring game and that is what i will be looking for as i watch that game. from what i remember both zwick and smith put up big numbers but smith was more impressive in doing his thing and threw a prettier ball. i have heard numerous times that the coaching staff has finally ironed out zwick's mechanics though so he will probably be throwing a better ball this spring game. for his sake i hope he does for sure. while i fully anticipate some sort of platoon system at least through the non conference part of the regular season, i imagine one guy will emerge and distance himself and secure the job for the rest of his career. my personal bias is rooting on justin zwick yet my eyes saw that guy as troy smith the last time i saw them both play (in that spring game) so you know what that means, expect the unexpected and todd boeckman to win the starting job in a shocker.

i was searching through my server logs and stuff like that earlier tonight, looking at which search engine searches led to the site and what links people came from, stuff like that. i always find some interesting random crap in there that i would never think to look for. anyways quite a few people have been looking for pictures of fear factor couples champ monica's sweet ass tits and came to my site since i mentioned them. well i had to follow their searches since it was just a simple click of the mouse and i have a few pics now on my hard drive. i might as well post one here so readers of the site that aren't fear factor fans can see them sweet (clothed) cans for themselves. anyways that is the picture on the right. enjoy them titties courtesy of the good people at nbc and fear factor.

another thing i have been up to lately is playing around with the new ea james bond game everything or nothing. me and the boys are huge friends of the james bond deathmatch on xbox and we were eagerly anticipating this games release. now that i own it and have screwed around with it for a few days i would highly recommend nobody buy this game. the only reason we play is for the deathmatch mode and it isn't part of the new game. all they have is the structured storyline game in an act of mind boggling stupidity. who knows maybe they will release a deathmatch only version of the game to keep us entertained. otherwise it looks like we are waiting on the release of doom3 to scratch the deathmatch itch.

anyways that is all i have in me tonight. i still want to finish up my half assed 2004 preview but it isn't happening tonight, oh well. more updates this weekend as i schedule them in around work and some big time texas hold em action (13 player tournament style it looks like this weekend). enjoy.
02-18-04 (1am) another long day of work followed by another sweet ass after work / after dinner nap leads to another night of watching tivo and goofing around on the web while i struggle to get back to sleep so i am fresh when i need to go make the donuts in the morning. speaking of the donuts, the plastic shop has been running really well lately. me and the lead chemist type guy (not his official title) ran an experiment on a formula and it has been paying off big time (my opinion, he is still reserving judgment). anyways all is still going well there so ideally i will be able to continue to spend more and more time on the web after work.

their is some action with regard to spring camp. the official website has confirmed the 24th of april as the date of the spring game. kickoff should be at 1:30pm. there was a post on the bsb message board with the rest of the practice sessions listed as well. whether or not these are accurate or not is debatable but i tend to believe them so i am posting them in the left hand column tonight. the schedule is always subject to change at the will of coach T and there is no word as to which, if any, of these practice sessions are going to be open to the public. anyways, the dates in the left hand column are filled out quite a bit more tonight and now you know, and according to gi joe knowing is half the battle.

i am still loving this hard disk recorder / dvd burner. i am very slowly archiving off all the buckeye games that me and the cbg have on tape to dvd and michigan 2002 is next. i haven't watched that game since the fiesta bowl championship game so it should be a fun one to watch and edit down. i think i am going to try and do this as professionally as possible since the 2002 season will probably be featured quite prominently in my dvd collection. i plan on getting some of the best game photos from each game and using them for the cover along with some slick titling in photoshop. i will probably be raiding the ozone for these pics since jim davidson (sp? it could be davison) is by far the best osu sports photographer probably of all time. before the good people at the ozone need to get put in touch with my good friend the irish patent attorney for copyright infringement, this is not a commercial project and it is not for sale. anyways i am really excited about this project and the idea of now having all the osu games pretty much from here on out until i die (probably some september around 2040 when northwestern stuns the buckeyes with thier first victory over the buckeyes since i was a fetus and i have a heart attack from the shock of it all) archived off permanently on dvd.

i was going to do some work tonight and finish off my very preliminary very half assed look forward to the 2004 season by working over the defense and special teams and the schedule tonight but the wine is starting to kick in and i am finally getting sleepy. more sometime after work wednesday unless i get so drunk watching my favorite show (chappelle show comedy central 10:30pm) that i am unable to operate a computer. enjoy.
02-17-04 (12:10am) not much going on tonight. i crashed out after work today but fortunately i set my hard drive recorder to record all the crap i normally watch so i can watch it now while i try to get to sleep before more work in the morning. right now i am watching fear factor. damn do they always have hot chicks on that show and damn does monica have some sweet ass tits. i have been enjoying that pair for something like nine weeks in a row now, its a shame i don't have a pic of those to post on the site. oh well. i always thought they should have a fat ass special episode of fear factor but i doubt it would get the same ratings as one with such lovely cans. who knows maybe duane long could compete in this very special fear factor of mine, he does have his own set of D cups.

i have been going over some of the top recruits that i have seen for the class of 2005 the past few updates but today i want to switch it up a little bit. i will be getting back to the seniors to be in due time but for now it is time to look forward to actual buckeyes instead of prospective buckeyes.

speaking of buckeyes, some actual news before getting on with the business of the day. maurice clarett has officially signed with an agent and as a result can never play football for ohio state or any other college for that matter. good luck maurice.

after what will seem like about 100 months without football, the bucks will actually hit the field again for spring ball in april. no dates have been officially announced yet but the gambler in me says that april 24th is a lock for the spring game and spring practice will probably start within the first three or four days of the month. basically we have to kill off the rest of february and get through march and then we will get a tease of some buckeye football. basically we are looking at 45 more days without any hint of football and then we will have a little action. 45 days isn't much. coincedentally i think today was our 45th day in a row of work for our entire plant (i did take off one day vacation for letter of intent day). trust me, time just flies by when you aren't watching that clock or calendar. catch yourselves up on shit to do around the house and start working out or something and drop a few pounds because trust me friends the 2004 season is going to be a magical one for buckeye fans. we are all going to be drinking like fish this season as the buckeyes go undefeated deep into the season and most likely into the national championship game.

2004 will be a transition season on the roster for sure. the offense loses the ultimate leader craig krenzel to graduation. let me say that again, to GRADUATION. he isn't bolting early for the pros and he didn't simply exhaust his eligibility. craig krenzel is an alum of this fine university like myself, the cbg, and probably a mojority of the readers. welcome to the club my friend. not only do the buckeyes lose our field general we lose lots of experience on offense. shane olivea, adrien clarke, bryce bishop, and alex stepanovich are all gone on the o-line. maurice clarett is officially gone from the depth chart at tailback. mike jenkins and chris gamble are gone from the receivers corp. so is ben hartsock. all these guys will be missed big time. sure some critics will point out that losing guys from this offense isn't necessarily a bad thing but those guys are plain old stupid (and probably closet kinEASYology majors). experience is a huge factor on offense and we will be lacking it like no other. still though i am confident in our ability to move the chains, eat up clock like duane long eats cookies, and score points at will. more on that later though.

on defense the buckeyes are equally gutted. the stellar front four are on to bigger and better things in the NFL any day now. darrion scott will be pounding on punk ass qb's in the NFL like he did to jason gesser this year against washington state. will smith will no longer be able to be held every down as if it is some sort of big10 rule. tim anderson will be underappreciated and starting for some lucky team. sure there is tons of talent leaving the roster but the cupboard isn't bare, but more on that later. the linebackers return largely intact. sure we lose freddie pagac jr and special teams demon jason bond but we shoud have no problems there honestly. in the secondary the bucks lose all american chris gamble and all american will allen. they are both definitely talented as hell but i have not a worry about replacing either of those guys, the clip is still full of silver bullets.

on special teams we lose chris gamble and mike jenkins returning kicks, bj sander booming punts, and probably more importantly kyle andrews the long snapper extraordinaire who is giving up football to focus on life instead. all will be missed but none more than andrews in my opinion.

why am i so optimistic about our chances for returning to the national championship game despite such massive turnover you ask? good question.

on offense the buckeyes will lose krenzel but will be bringing in a guy with a better arm and a higher upside in either justin zwick, troy smith, or todd boeckman. all three of those guys have guns for an arm and should allow the buckeyes to threaten defenses with the deep ball and the quick and deep out patterns more so than the ultimate winner krenzel. as for who actually gets the honor of replacing a buckeye legend, it is too early to tell right now. justin zwick will probably start out spring camp as the number one but i doubt he or any other qb wins the job outright until the start of big10 play. i is looking like a platoon system to me for at least our first three games or so of 2004. anyways, as long as the qb's don't make any critical mistakes in critical games we should be fine under center. up front we return nick mangold and robby sims and mike kne but that is about it as far as game experience counts. the other two starters are up in the air but i am looking at kirk barton as one slam dunk starter if he continues to keep working hard and the other starter will probably be someone from the tim schaeffer, rj coleman, tj downing, and adam olds group. i guess a true freshman could step up in the fall but they won't be there for the spring so i tend to doubt it. at tailback we return lydell ross and maurice hall. ideally one of them gets the senior thing going on, but they both have a lot to prove. branden joe is another option at tailback but he is still looking like a fullback with the other brandon, schnittker in reserve. at receiver we have a big play threat in santonio holmes and that is probably enough. fortunately we have lots of unproven depth out wide and santonio shouldn't have to beat a double team every damn down. roy hall is the most likely second starter with bam childress looking like the third option going into spring camp. things may change though when spring ball heats up and i am expecting big things from redshirts tony gonzalez, dareus hiley, and devon jordan. all three of those guys have jaw dropping talent and are now going to get their first chance to show it in the scarlet and gray. at tight end ryan hamby returns and he could be a major threat both catching the ball and blocking. hamby was always more of a receiver than a blocker but his blocking really came on last year and i don't think we miss a beat at tight end even after losing such a stud as ben hartsock. louis irizarry will probably be the second tight end as his legal troubles are all behind him from what i hear. man that reminds me, i got a frozen pizza in the oven (seriously).

anyways i am hungry and that tombstone pizza is smelling too damn good for me to be typing. i think i am going to cut off this update short and finish off the defense and special teams after work tuesday. as for my tv for the night, i think i gots to see some more of them sweet fear factor titties. that scene with the spiders and that one chick just freaking out was great. i got to watch that again. the look on the dudes face as his girlfriend decided to not try for the million dollars was priceless. much more after work for sure. i fully plan on rebuilding this site to its former half assed glory this off season.
02-12-04 (8:10pm) man i have been loving this hard drive/dvd burner for my tv. i just got done making a dvd of the 2002 osu - washington state game. i tried compressing it down to one disk and it is highly watchable but not perfect. the games are generally too long to fit on one disc at dvd quality even without commercials. i may try splitting the bitch into two discs and see if that makes it any better. it could have something to do with the original source tape too. i will have to burn a disc of my favorite episodes of 'chappelle show' here sometime soon to see if skipping vhs and dubbing from the hard drive makes as big a difference as i hope it does.

anyways enough about my new toy and some quick info about the buckeyes and recruiting and stuff. first off the actual news of the day. the bucks have finally filled one of two vacancies on the coaching staff with the addition of former rutgers assistant darrell hazell. hopefully this new coach can bring in some recruits from the state of new jersey. jersey is wide open recruiting ground with no instate power to contend with and them producing lots of talent on an annual basis. how good of a coach is he, that is to be determined but he is good enough for coach tressel so that says something right there.

now for some recruiting news. actually it isn't news or anything just some random thoughts and a few pics of prospects. tonight some stuff on seniors to be from dayton chaminade julienne high. the biggest name player on chaminade is by far javon ringer. ringer is a little small but he is powerful and he runs and blocks with some authority. i saw him once in person as a sophomore (i had to drag my ass down to dayton to do it but i won the 50 - 50 and then just crashed in columbus with the irish patent attorney for the weekend so it wasn't too bad of a trip). as a soph ringer just dominated a team from canada so completely that he was riding the pine midway through the second quarter. still though he showed power, speed, vision, and an understanding of the game that you don't expect from a soph in high school. i later that year saw him on the tube and again he was impressive as hell, this time for four quarters. i had the privilege of seeing javon carry the ball this past year as he travelled to my neck of the woods to play at massillon. massillon is in a down swing right now (and that looks like it will be continuing for another year or two at least unless they can step up their recruiting effors) but javon totally dominated. he would have ran for nearly a thousand yards that night if the home town refs didn't blow the whistle every time he was nearly wrapped up. it went like that all night long. massillon would start to wrap up ringer, he would break free of the pathetic tackle attempt, and then the whistle would go off. despite some blatantly biased refs (a massillon tradition on par with obie) javon still ran for over 200 yards if i remember right. the big question about javon ringer will be his size. he isn't particularly tall (probably 5'10"ish and around 185 - 190 pounds by my best guess). i am not a fan of the smaller backs in general because they can't break tackles and won't get the tough yards you need to be champion. that stereotype does generally hold for many of the smaller backs but i don't think it fits ringer at all. he is very thick for a little guy and he runs with that low center of gravity that allows him to bounce off of tacklers that try to blow him up and blow through arm tackles. as for his speed, i don't know really. i would guess he would be listed as running around a 4.5 by the gurus but what do they really know. if it were a legit time he (and most all the other backs) wouldn't sniff the 4.5 but that is probably what he will be listed as in all the databases. some experts question his grades too but then again what the hell do they know. c-j is a private school with good academics. maybe javon doesn't have the best gpa (not that i know either way) but he is probably at least as smart as some of these recruits with a 3.5 gpa and a sub 1000 sat (ballpark 18 act). just like football performance it is all about who you do it against and c-j is no chump school.

while ringer gets all the hype being a skill position player / prospect he may not be the biggest prospect on his high school team (due mainly to him not having ideal size for his projected position). cornerback brandon harrison will also be a senior this year and he may, emphasis on may, be the more highly recruited player for college football. harrison has done very well on the track and his speed is legit on the football field. i imagine that his speed will be listed as 4.4 by the gurus and experts. he may even have legit 4.5 speed electronically timed (which is smoking), who knows. i saw harrison the same times and places that i saw ringer, duh, and while ringer was the star of all stars brandon harrison looked like a high d1 player that could end up in the big10 for sure. his coverage skills are solid as he can run and twist and turn with the best of them. his size is probably his biggest question mark too, but he is ball park 5'10" and somewhere around 175 pounds. sounds like reasonable size for a corner to me. whether or not he gets an offer to osu or not is the big question. i think he has the talent for sure but i don't know if we have much of a need for guys at his position. i could see the bucks only recruiting absolute cream of the crop corners and passing on most all of the talented ohio guys in the secondary unless they can also project as a safety or receiver. i don't see harrison being a safety or a corner so who knows.

anyways that is all i have for tonight. normally i would drop some poor excuse about me needing to watch some of my favorite television shows but that doesn't fly anymore with my new toy. i watch the crap i want to when i want to. no longer do i have to delay my post work nap to accomodate the simpsons reruns. i can relax and do as i wish and watch the crap later on. if my hard drive gets full, just burn another dollar dvd and archive it off permanently. anyways more after work tomorrow unless i can come up with something sweet to do for friday night. enjoy.
02-10-04 (11:25pm) virtually no update whatsoever here honestly. i recently got one of those dvd recorder / hard drive recorders (tivo on steroids basically) and i finally have it wired into my entertainment center and i just wanted to spread the word. these things are the shit. compared to a computer based dvd burner it is no contest. the stand alone unit is so damn easy to use it isn't funny. to capture, convert, and compress video on a computer sucks trust me, i have spent several hundred hours doing this with various recruiting film and other buckeye related projects. now i can just leisurely sit back and do this same work (well the bulk of it anyway, i can't do voiceovers or custom menus or whatnot) while getting even more drunk. if you are in the market for getting something nice for yourself i would highly suggest one of these. i picked up a panasonic progressive scan dvd recorder with an 80 gigabyte hard disk built in and it is the shit. i thought about picking up a big hdtv or maybe even a state of art computer but i think i will wait a little longer until the type of technology i want comes down in price. i am sure this will happen with this dvd recorder / hard drive recorder but this will always be sufficient for me and what i want to do with it. anyways check one out. i got mine at best buy for a decent price (mid 600's) and it is worth every penny.

as for the buckeyes there isn't much going on right now. it has been reported that hamilton ohio athlete adam myers was offerred a scholarship to attend ohio state. myers is a teammate of the underwood brothers who are now in the secondary at ohio state. whether myers follows the underwood brothers to ohio state or not is still up in the air. i haven't been down to the cincy area in years (and i can't imagine i will be anytime soon to see high school football either, it is just so damn far) so i don't know jack about myers other than his reported measureables. he is tall (over 6'2" for sure and reports as high as 6'4" but i never believe these heights until i see them; every recruit is 6'4" plus and i always have an inch or two on them, usually i am taller too). myers sounds like a player but how the hell would i know how good he is, it isn't like i am some 400 pound man passing himself off as a recruiting expert despite never attending high school football because his fat ass can't get out of the house without being cut out courtesy of the springer show. we'll see how good he is if he decides he wants to compete with the logjam of talent we have at defensive back at ohio state.

another name that has popped up recently is florida (jacksonville) running back maurice wells. wells was reportedly called the best high school tailback that osu recruiting coordinatorbill conley had ever seen so that is big time despite his size (somewhere around 5'11" and 190 as a junior with blazing 4.4 speed). we are a big favorite at this point in time so keep the fingers crossed. i saw a list where wells was rated as one of the top 5 underclassmen in the state of florida this year so he should be a top 50 player in the nation for sure.

anyways that is all i have for now. i am going to watch some dave chappelle show reruns on the new toy, finish this mug of wine and crash out for the night. more after work tomorrow for sure.
02-07-04 (12:35am) late night update tonight but it was a good night for the vg. i played some more texas hold'em tonight after dinner and i was the big winner taking home about 40% of the cash on the table. still though i am a glutton for punishment and i will be in at work again this weekend getting my earn on. at the pace i am going i will take maybe 20 or 30 days off this year counting vacation and weekends but not holidays. this has kept me away from the website but i am going to try and change that this year. last year i was the new guy at work but that has changed. i have solidified my position in the corporation quite well and i have nothing left to prove other than going out and making the donuts every day. i hope to spend much much more time on the site after work and rebuild her to her former half assed glory. we will see.

time for some quick talk on the next crop of recruits that the experts and gurus are already stalking. since i live in NE ohio that is my area of fandom (which is far from expertise). i saw jamario o'neal as a soph once and man was he impressive. he was playing corner still when i saw him so the other team just avoided him with their play selection. it was impressive to see a team scheme around a soph. on offense jamario played receiver and ran the ball on a few reverses. quite impressive with the ball in his hands, kind of like how lloyd carr is impressive with the balls in his mouth. i saw jamario up close and in person last year for glenville as well. he was sitting out from the game while his transfer from mansfield to glenville was being dragged out by the high school athletic association but i did get to sit about two rows behind him in the stadium and get a good look at his size. he is definitely over 6' and probably just a hair over 6'1" or so. i am 6'4" and i had a good two inches on him so he is probably 6'2" max. he had added quite a bit of muscle since his sophomore year and was probably right around 200 pounds or so. he looks like he could continue to add size and maybe even grow into the outside linebacker from hell that could revolutionize the game. personally i thought he looked better on offense than he did on defense the last i saw him play football (as a soph). who knows where he plays though as long as it is in columbus ohio i don't really care where we line him up, he should be a star.

the other buckeye verbal from the senior to be class is lakewood st eds o-lineman alex boone. i saw st eds play against massillon this year from my seats inbetween the 45's on the home side unfortunately boone did not play and i could not identify him on the sideline either. it was a disappointing year for me and the cbg travelling around ohio as far as seeing prospects in person. way too many injuries and weather related crap. oh well. boone is listed as being 6'8" and about 280 pounds or so. he is listed on the rivals.com all american team for his class already and should be a top 25 player in the nation. he may be the top o-lineman in the nation and certainly is number one in the state.

the next best lineman i saw was warren harding's rocco cironi. rocco is about 6'6" or 6'7" and probably 250 pounds. he is quite big but not fat at all and he is very mobile. i saw him start twice for harding as a soph a few more times last year as a junior and man was he impressive for a guy his age. he still has all kinds of work to do if he wants to get to a school like ohio state but he is dripping with potential. big time prospect with the emphasis on prospect and not quite star yet. keep an eye on this kid. another prospect at harding is michigan oral commit mario manningham. he was very good in his own right but if he wants to go to michigan i think i am done discussing him until we whip his ass on the field kind of like how lloyd carr likes to have his ass whipped by bo schembeckler in the comfort of their own private practice sessions.

anyways it is getting late tonight so time for one more prospect and another picture before i pound this last beer and crash out for a few hours before making sure the plastic gets made this weekend. for this last prospect tonight we will go back to cleveland glenville for athlete freddie lennix. for starters i have seen his last name spelled both ways in game programs (with one or two n's). i have no clue how it is actually spelled. that is the only question i have about freddie other than what position he ends up playing. lennix has the speed to be an impact player at a number of positions. he has the ability to be a dominant run supporting safety ala mike doss or a speedy outside linebacker like a cie grant or a joe cooper. he could even play offense but i think his future is on the defense. as good as freddie is on O he is just the man on D. freddie has the good nose for the ball and did a good job of avoiding blockers. i really can't say i have ever seen him shed too many blocks and that could be a concern if he is a linebacker but then again i haven't seen any linemen fire off the line of scrimmage and get up into him giving him the chance to shed a block or two. as a hitter freddie is tough. him and jamario on the same defense is just all kinds of punishment waiting to be dished out. i haven't heard about freddie getting an offer from the buckeyes as of yet but i expect him to get one this coming junior weekend. some people will question freddie's size (my best guess is 5'11" and a shade or two under 200 pounds) but he does have time to grow and fill out still and his speed is blazing enough to make him a dominant safety type already. besides, i don't really care if any of the buckeyes have prototype NFL size. i just want them to dominate on the college gridiron and that is exactly what i anticipate freddie will be doing for some lucky college in the near future.

anyways that last beer is done and i am gone. more tomorrow for sure. enjoy the weekend.
02-05-04 (11:45pm) lots of news today. none of it especially good unless you are one of those maurice clarett haters out there. first off maurice has won his law suit against the NFL and is now eligible for the draft this april. he has not declared for the draft yet though so stay tuned for more there. my take is that mo is ready for the NFL and is a better prospect than chris perry or steven jackson. maybe kevin jones would get picked ahead of him as far as tailbacks go but that is the only one i can think of.

i have been planning on doing a tribute to maurice on this site for some time when he is gone complete with video highlights of every game he played here and all the works. if he does go i will work on it in the off season. I hope mo stays and wins the heisman and a national championship but i have the feeling he is gone. good luck mo, i will always remember the good times my friend. you are a buckeye legend in my mind if nothing else.

the other bad news is about another warren harding product. senior to be receiver mario manningham has gotten the obvious out of the way and gave lloyd carr an oral commit. notice that lloyd receives oral commits from the young boys while coach tressel prefers the more heterosexual verbal commit. class act that coach T is. anyways manningham was lights out as a soph and still pretty damn good as a junior though he didn't put up the jaw dropping performances he did at the end of his soph year against teams like massillon and cincy elder. he is a good one that is getting away but he never really showed us much love so i wouldn't call him a loss.

anyways i need to get my ass in bed and get some beauty sleep before work, trust me i need all the beauty sleep i can get. anyways more after work sometime friday. i really let the site go this past year after the national championship and i would like to rebuild it to its former glory this offseason in preparation for another national championship season in 2004 (and 2005 and 2006 says my drunken ass). anyways more friday including a look at some of the top players in the state of ohio for recruiting next year and a half ass preview of the 2004 spring camp for ohio state. enjoy.
02-04-04 (7:35pm) jim tressel had his press conference at 5 and i was listening in on 1460. as usual you couldn't hear the questions hardly at all but you could hear coach T loud and clear. unfortunately 1460 left the presser after a few quick questions to go to commercial and they didn't go back to tressel, they went to kurelic after the break. oh well. anyways here is a real brief recap of what was said.

tressel started out with the normal coachspeak stuff that you hear about every national signing day. he urged the commits to finish high school strong. he then went on to say that they did a great job in ohio getting who they got and that they would be getting two more in march (my mind immediately went to ray williams but then i started thinking about the kickers trapasso and pettrey). tressel then commented on the great job we did in PA this year and said that we are working hard in all the border states of ohio. sounds to me like we should expect to see more recruits from michigan, PA, KY, and unfortunately indiana coming aboard. maybe we can convince tressel that indiana is just a basketball state and he can count illinois as a border state and start recruiting there.

tressel said the team had specific needs and that they met those needs with this class and with the right type of people. he was anxious to see how this class would mesh in with the other classes on campus. then he opened it up to questions from the hacks in the crowd. the first inaudible question was about tailback. tress said they have two seniors (and did not mention mo at all or a junior/soph tailback) and that we have two kids coming in (pittman and haw) and one more in march. for the life of me i can't think of who the march guy is unless he is counting punter-high school tailback aj trapasso as a tailback. who knows, maybe there is something up with ray williams still. he then answered questions about LOI's and how they work. real good question by some jackass reporter, bruce hooley must have been there. tressel then talked about how he was only able to visit each of the recruits once.

tressel then spoke about ted ginn and how he will continue to do great things in college with both track and football. he said that ginn thinks he can come in and compete for a job right away and the coaches felt the same way. he said that he has no problems with any of his players playing multiple sports in college as long as they have all of their academics in order. without the the academics you can't play one sport let alone two i guess. tressel then answered another jackass question about where the class will be ranked as if he is supposed to be some recruiting junkie following how all the schools are doing. tressel said that ranking weren't his concern and that he was more concerned about next year's class than where this year's class is ranked by some jackass (obviously my word and not coach T's) that calls himself an expert. he then again went on to say how he was eager to see how this class will mesh with the last couple of classes and form a team.

tressel then said that he felt really good about the offensive line group. he went on to mention them all by name. he said that rehrig had a big advantage by coming to campus early and being able to go through spring ball. he said that kyle mitchum was a great catch and that jon skinner was another PA guy from a good program. he then commented on how much ben person loves football and how he is always around practices and whatnot. he said this group is already starting to gel and that could make for a nice addition to the offensive line.

the last question tressel took before 1460 abruptly went away for commercial break and foolishly didn't return to the presser was about dajuan morgan and miles williams. tressel said that he can't by rule comment on anyone but guys that they sign.

anyways i am going to grab some chow and then watch ONN at 8pm for their recruiting wrap up special then watch some cavs and dave chappelle tonight with the cbg while we pound the rest of the alcoholic beverages in the house. more after work thursday.
02-04-04 (4:30pm) national signing day is over and the buckeyes pulled another ofer on signing day. we did keep all the verbals that we had (that the university committee would accept) so at least we didn't have any negative suprises this year. the coach T press conference is on tv at 5pm and i will be doing a brief wrap up of that for those out of staters (or no ONN markets which is like what half of the state it seems) that can't watch for themselves. the drinking game went good but it ended badly for the vg. while waiting and waiting and waiting for the rhyan anderson to miami commit i kept on drinking and layed down on the couch to watch the end of the fiesta bowl on dvd again and went out cold. i did get in a quality nap though and apparently that will be the highlight of my national signing day vacation (other than the sweet ass buzz i caught all day long of course). anyways tressel is on at 5, then i think he is on with 1460 from 6 - 7 (not sure though there), and then there is a signing special on ONN at 8. enjoy all the tressel time tonight but don't forget that the cavs play the lakers tonight on the tube and of course it is wednesday and that means another new episode of chappelle show on comecy central tonight. more after the presser.
02-04-04 (1:15pm) still no word on rhyan anderson but albert dukes has faxed in his LOI. the anderson watch continues as i crack open beer number 10. i got my game face on today albeit without a game. maybe i will pop in the national championship dvd and watch that. enjoy work suckers.
02-04-04 (12:45pm) i just got done with some lunch and now it is all about rhyan anderson. his announcement or fax or whatever should be going down at around 1pm eastern standard time so it is probably just a matter of minutes. anyways, the beers are going down good and the shots are now starting to kick in. i need to quit typing so i can hear 1460 the fan's internet broadcast. the only LOI that we are still waiting on from a verbal is FLA's stud wide out albert dukes. everyone else is in. anyways another update just as soon as anderson announces.
02-04-04 (11:30am) more commits. akron buchtel tailback antonio pittman is now officially a buckeye. pittman was the first tailback the coaches offerred so you gotta think he is their number one target at tailback (we all know everyon eis pete carroll's number one guy). i saw pittman play once this year and he was impressive but small. he was impressive even with an injury (turf toe if i recall correctly). anyways welcome aboard. joining pittman as buckeyes are florida athlete dennis kennedy, pickerington punter aj trapasso and hamilton's db brandon underwood. underwood joins his brother in the buckeye secondary. kennedy is most likely looking like a defensive back as well, but he may get a look at tailback before db. trapasso is the story here. last i heard he wasn't going to sign a letter of intent and was going to wait to do so. if he is signing today i think another player has fallen through and perhaps we will be shut out again on national signing day. the player who most likely fell through is wisky defensive end rhyan anderson but who knows, this is all just drunken speculation. more later
02-04-04 (10:20am) man these recruits are just killing me with their early morning routine. whatever happened to just taking it easy and shit. lots more letters of intent rolling in. ted ginn has his in. speaking of ted ginn, i have lots of film of him in the archive from both his senior and junior seasons. the film against those gay looking winged helmets is from his junior year against cleveland lincoln west. the film against the team in the black uni's is massillon perry and that was this year. check it out. other LOI's rolling in include ginn's teammate athlete curtis terry, PA athlete devon lyons, west chester's steve rehrig, colubmus tailback supreme erik haw, and dayton backer marcus freeman. i also have tons of film on erik haw and marcus freeman. i am really excited to see erik haw be a buckeye. i went to see him early this past season and was so impressed that i made it a point to go see him again (i haven't posted the film from that second game either now that i think about it). haw has explosive speed and much more importantly thick ass thighs. he should have enough power to run between the tackles in the big ten and enough speed to blow through the secondary when he gets there. haw is way under rated and an absolute stud recruit despite his three star ranking. you don't camp at places like osu, michigan, and penn state and get offerred on the spot without being the shit. anyways, i need to get drinking. more within the hour.
02-04-04 (10:05am) y-town area product and son of a buckeye shaun lane has faxed back his signed letter of intent. lane is a smaller guy but he got the offer really early in the process so you gotta think the coaches think he is a player. lane is coming in as a defensive back though those who are most familiar with him in that area think he will get his first look on special teams returning kicks and punts. can't wait to see him in the scarlet and gray.
02-04-04 (9:45am) the fax machine has slowed down fortunately for my liver. no new LOI's that i have heard of. my tally 8 verbals and four beers none of which were chugged. i am catcing up but not there yet. anyways, i actually have some video posted of sirjo welch if you want to watch him in action. go to the video archive in the upper left corner and see for yourself how good he actually is. as always these videos are completely free and i just checked them out. they are there and they are all working. right now there is film on commits sirjo welch, erik haw, chad hoobler, ted ginn, jamario o'neal, and marcus freeman in the archive. i have film on glenville's curtis terry and akron buchtel's antonio pittman too but it isn't net ready yet. maybe tonight i will get with the cbg and get that ready if i am not too damn drunk to do it.

in other recruiting news michigan picked up cali wide out cameron colvin this morning over usc. colvin is widely regarded as a top 5 receiver so look for him to be frustrated as hell getting shut out by ted ginn over the next three or four years. honestly you think a guy like ginn would scare receivers out of the whole conference. lack of respect there for a guy like colvin to come into the big10 and think he can hang with teddy G.
02-04-04 (9:10am) another couple of buckeyes added to the fold. euclid's brandon smith (linebacker), columbus defensive back sirjo welch, LA's nader abdallah, and nick patterson (MO db) are now buckeyes. i will recognize them as a buckeyes as soon as i can put down another beer. my alcohol scoreboard for today is 8 verbals and 2 miller lites consumed. i need to get busy here. i still need to make 2 of those drinks chugged beers for top100 players so hopefully i should be getting funny instead of just ripping off the o-zone today.

now for some random crap. will the bucks get shut out again this year and if so is that such a bad thing. sure all of us junkies would be without or fix if the bucks get shut out but i don't think it is a bad thing at all. coach T wants to even out the classes scholarship wise so why not hold out for all the top100 talents you can but if you fall short bank that scholarship for next year's already small class instead of reaching for talent that (if it doesn't develop) may just ride the pine for five years. do we get shut out though, i doubt it. best bet for a suprise today is wisky de rhyan anderson. i have been drinking whiskey for years now so you know i am pounding some seagram's seven as soon as i refresh the o-zone and see rhyan anderson on that. anyways, another update within the hour. get the pattern.
02-04-04 (8:40am) no new letters of intent arriving announced yet (i am using the o-zone as the official source of letters of intent arriving since they and bsb are actually there unlike some other sites, this one included) but i have an update all the same. the first beer is cracked open. i am not chugging for the top 100 guys quite yet as i need to properly lube up my throat before putting it to work. man i probably shouldn't say lube up the throat with mr bucknuts active on the net today. anyways i have cracked open the first miller lite and it is going down like lloyd carr on a recruiting visit.

in random recruiting news frank morton has signed with tulane. apparently the verbal of morton to ohio state way back was either a lie or some serious stretching of the truth to sell some subscriptions. oh well. good luck frank, you did nothing wrong to the buckeye nation and you won't either at tulane. good luck. former pitt verbal qb anthony morelli has officially decided it is penn state for him. this could suck for buckeye fans in that we will play morelli every year he is at penn state. morelli is one of the top two or three qb's in the nation and is walking into an ideal situation at penn state. he could be trouble my friends. no good luck to anthony morelli. i hope you ride the pine for four years.
02-04-04 (8:35am) welcome aboard for more buckeyes. PA tight end rory nicol has faxed in his signed letter of intent and is now a buckeye. nicol is another top one hundred player (and the second one from PA) to join this class. a top hundred player should be worth more drinks than some other player especially if that guy is from out of state. i think a top100 player should be worth chugging a beer instead of just merely consuming a beer. that puts me down two alcoholic beverages at my leisure and two beer chugged (or large shots). i need to finish my breakfast here and get busy putting a hurt on my liver. more within the hour.
02-04-04 (8:25am) first off the bad news. jersey wide out dwayne jarrett has decided to attend usc and play for pete carroll for a year or two before he bolts back to the nfl. it was widely thought that jarrett would announce for the buckeyes today but that isn't happenning. oh well.

i am playing a drinking game today on my vacation for national signing day. any suprise verbal (say dwayne jarrett or rhyan anderson the de from wisky) was worth chugging a beer and doing a shot. the jarrett committ works out well for me personally in that i have only had a sip of orange juice so far this morning as my hungover ass is just now waking up and i am still food free today. hopefully i can pound that beer and shoot some seagram's seven later today.

on the good news front the bucks have received letters of intent from big ben person the o-lineman from xenia ohio, alex barrow the d-lineman from dublin ohio, and PA lineman kyle mitchum. three commits puts me down three alcoholic beverages of my choice (either one beer, one glass of wine, or a shot at my leisure). it is still too early right now but as soon as i can woof down some breakfast i will grab a beer and a shot and get at this. until those alcoholic drinks are consumed nobody is an official buckeye yet so i will get on it here shortly. another update within the hour for sure.
02-04-04 (midnight) it has been a crappy ass year for this website but i plan to fully whip it out all day long for national signing day. i took one of my extra vacation days for wednesday and i am going to turn national signing day into my own personal drinking game. it should be fun especially since i won't be working for a change. i moved december first into a new pad and i have had a whopping total of 5 days off since then. business has been booming and my shit at work is going great. all work and no play make the vg something something though you know (you do if you watched the 'shinning' episode of the simpsons). anyways i am really drunk right now and going to crash out and get up real damn early and cover signing day all day long as well as covering my drinking experiences and the drinking game rules as i make them up. should be fun. anyways much much more all day tomorrow. enjoy.

return to the vanilla gorilla's front page
