08-31-04 (12:45am) i saw two high school games this past weekend akron hoban vs akron garfield and cleveland glenville vs mentor. of the four teams i saw they only had one sure fire buckeye in the group in glenville's jamario o'neal but there was loads of talent making moves on the field. i honestly thought the best football player i saw this weekend was glenville junior ray smalls. smalls totally dominated mentor on about three back to back plays and the game was blown open and over but for the final score. i have seen smalls before in the past but he never dominated like this before. good to see him start to step up and continue the tarblooder tradition. another glenville junior, daven jones, also looked really good. both jones and smalls had all the speed you would expect out of a tarblooder but more importantly it looked like they were football players first and track guys second. they just happened to be blazing fast that is all.
jamario had limited touches (maybe three or four catches) and none of them were jaw droppers honestly but i wasn't disappointed. i got the distinct impression that once glenville started to roll up on mentor they put the offense in the bag and started saving it up for warren harding this saturday night at 7. i would love to hit the glenville harding game but i will fortunately be in columbus celebrating a big win over the bearcats that day instead. freddie lenix played his usual game saturday with a sack, some more pressure and some nice tackling. i still got to think he will get an offer as an athlete to suit up for the buckeyes. he did play some tailback but didn't touch the ball much at all. i expect that will change saturday. tim conners played a good game against the cardinals saturday too. once he got into the open field he was just gone. i tend to think he goes somewhere besides OSU (not his choice i am sure) but he could be a big10 caliber player. a team like indiana would be lucky to have a talent like tim conners. probably the only thing that sucked about the glenville game was that i had to go alone. the crazy bearded guy was unable to attend so i was there trying to work the still camera (same crappy ass one as last season still as of right now) in between trying to film everything. it wasn't easy and i doubt i got many good pics from the game. as for film i got some that will be on the net this week for sure but i missed some good highlights too (like a nice daven jones bomb TD and a long tim conners TD run). oh well. probably the best thing i saw at the glenville game wasn't football related at all. i am sitting on the glenville side and talking to a couple of glenville parents that i sat around (and i sat around last year, and the year before, one of them was the hoops coach). anyways it is a dead moment in football action when a glenville cheerleader starts to do her thing. she does a bunch of flips in a row and it was impressive. then to finish the move she tries to do a little half twist on the last flip before sticking the landing, emphasis on tries. anyways she cant pull off the move and starts to come down head first and just face plants on the track. she was down for a couple of minutes (more of a pride thing than injury) and the crowd did the oooh aah thing and then started laughing. then some older dude who i presume was her dad stood up and says in our direction that he didn't think it was too fucking funny. after about a half a second of tension some dude to my left stands up and yells back, actually it was pretty fucking funny. the whole crowd laughed again including the dad. it was a good crowd and a good time. after the laughter stopped the hoops coach said 'man that is the third time she's done that this year and this is only our first game'. i couldn't help but laughing some more, i guess she must have bit it in their scrimmages too. sadly i don't have film of this. i just don't feel comfortable scoping out the high school cheerleaders with the camcorder, you never know whose father you are sitting with. i almost forgot to mention one glenville name player who played a big game. curtis smith looked awesome this year. if he can continue to get to the qb like he did friday night and keep up the solid work in the classroom i can see pig getting himself a big10 type of offer. he was unstoppable coming off of the edge. i bought a program at the game for the sole purpose of getting a glenville roster. the roster was a one page photocopy insert into the mentor program, pretty cheap by mentor really. i even asked the lady selling programs if it had the glenville roster inside and she said it did. well i get to my seat and my roster was missing. anyways i am missing some names but damn did i see some new players that i never heard of before that were incredible. number 44 for glenville just whipped ass on defense. he was by far and away the most impressive player on the defensive side of the ball. he was playing corner and had the antoine winfield like ability to never get blocked and always make the tackle. i asked the hoops coach about him and he said a relative of his (either 44's dad or brother or uncle or something like that) was playing professional football in the canadian league. you could see that 44 had the skills to play at another level. sadly i don't remember his name or what year he is in. if this guy isn't a senior he will be one of the next big things in glenville for sure. i got some info on the akron game coming up but it is late and i am going to tie a knot in it for tonight. i hope to be updating on a damn near regular basis now that football is here so i am not going to blow my whole high school load tonight. more on akron tomorrow and film from both games sometime this week. 08-20-04 (5:15pm) college football is almost here but even sooner than that is the kickoff of ohio high school football. lots of good opportunities to see some quality talent in week one. i am not sure who me and the cbg will be all going to see but i am hoping to hit at least two games that weekend and possibly even three. week one of high school football gets an early start with a thursday night game in akron that i hope to attend. akron garfield and akron hoban kick off the season on that 26th with a big game. northwestern verbal rb tyrell sutton gets a hundred or two for hoban while standout junior rb chris wells should get his hundred or two for the rams. both are elite level players in ohio and should be fun to watch. nice contrast in running style if nothing else. me and the cbg are really hoping to see that one though thursday could be rough. friday night the 27th everyone else starts up and there are a couple of good games for buckeye fans out there. three in particular that standout for me are glenville and their usual top shelf talent against northeast power mentor, osu verbal todd denlinger in action for troy against dublin coffman, and junior qb miles schlichter up against circleville. not sure who i am going to go see this night yet but i am leading towards jamario o'neal and freddie lenix against mentor. last year i only saw o'neal in street clothes. i did see him though as a sophomore and he put on the show big time against sandusky. lennix could emerge this year as a tailback too i think. it is looking like glenville may line up with jamario o'neal at qb and freddie lennix at running back. that is a top shelf combo in any college backfield let alone high school football. with the buckeyes off the first saturday of high school football i can possibly triple up next weekend with lots of options for saturday. osu verbal brian hartline is local for me to watch with very little effort and that is always appealing. nothing worse than driving the four hours it took me to get to toledo on time to see fred davis in action last year only to make the game meaningless to me now. the only good thing about that game honestly is that my one pic of fred davis happens to have a well known message board posters son in the background. at least one guy got something out of it. that drive was terrible to get through only to have davis sneak off to california. oh well. besides hartline (s) being local for me i have other great options for saturday. alex boone is in action on saturday and i have yet to see him play in person. the eds game i went to last year he sat out (which was the theme it seems last year with the injury bug to him and miles williams and tony pittman being banged up when i say him and delbert breaking his leg when i was there and jamario being in street clothes and all). if i were to see wells on thursday and jamario on friday, boone would be a nice saturday game for me. see the top two seniors and a top junior all the first weekend. still though the eds game isn't the only one i am looking at for saturday besides the glenoak (hartline[s]) game. i could see a cleveland war between st ignatius and benedictine or see warren harding in action against some team from dc. i love coach mcdaniels and would like to see what type of team he will be bringing back to the playoffs this year. those are the main games i am looking at for week number one of high school football. of course i will be bringing the old ass digital camcorder of mine and getting all the film i can for the buckeye nation. i have also been thinking about getting a new still camera to get some better stills. i really don't know what all i would need though to get action shots from the stands under lighting conditions that would vary wildly from saturday to saturday though so i am hesitant. the $999 canon digital slr has looked like a decent option for me for some time now but they have held firm on that list price of 999 for over a year now (though it can be had for around 800 or so if i look around long enough). i have been building a buckeye room for lately and would love to hang some pics that i shot of future buckeye legend in action in high school. kind of like the rug in the big lebowski, i really think a couple of nice pics would really tie the room together. one of the recurring themes for me in my search for good high school games this year has been the young qbs. three are getting pretty big hype statewide and one soph is getting good early reviews in my neck of the woods. mike hartline, miles schlichter, and rudy kirbus are the three best known underclassmen qbs in the state and they all seem like they have the potential to develop into elite college prospects but none of them are there yet. hell schoenhoft hasn't even played at an elite level in high school. he is on the brady quinn path of meteoric rise in the offseason followed by (hopefully) a standout senior year and a good college career. i have seen hartline and kirbus both in action at a scrimmage though i don't recall if hartline did anything at qb. i have some film of his brother and osu verbal brian in the filmroom but it is at qb not wr by the way. one other underclassman that i am tracking is dover's dan ifft jr. jr is part of his name not his class. he will be a sophomore this year. ifft is the coaches son and has been rumored to be the next big thing from tuscarawus county football wise since cie grant. i did see ifft once last year as a freshman and he had all the size you would want for a freshman and he looked very athletic too. dover didn't play him at qb though so i only saw him as a receiver. i don't believe i have ever posted any film from him yet so i will have to dig that tape out of the archive and see if i have anything on him to post. as for seeing ifft this year at qb, i would like to but i don't see them matching up against any other prospects i wish to see and there are only ten weeks in the regular season. while i was thinking about qb's i started thinking outside of ohio a little and was wondering if mission viejo had a top notch underclassman on the way up after sanchez. it would seem that we would be in good with MV after williams and bemoll coming to osu and it seems that their coach johnson likes us too. coach johnson is one of the more respected qb coaches out there outside of the NFL and he does run the elite 11 camp. stands to reason that he may just put out a top prospect nearly every year at that position. i wonder if any future qbs there will look a little longer at ohio state because of what has gone down this year. anyways this is basically your last weekend without football for quite sometime if you are a true junkie like myself. high school will serve as the appetizer for the beginning of the buckeyes down in cincy the following saturday. after that the nfl kicks off though that is really just there to get you through a hungover sunday afternoon, you know, the hair of the dog thing and all. 08-08-04 (2:30pm) lets face it i have been a lazy bitch, but you know what camp opens up the tenth and we finally have some real football action. unfortunately for me i won't even be home most of that week and i will be in enemy territory as i will be doing some plastic nonsense near state college PA for most of the week. i am back though friday. anyways i just wanted to start getting warmed up for the football season and shake off some of this rust by going with some stuff i make up on the fly.
coach tressel recently said that he expects to see ted ginn on defense first this year. lots of people suprised that he isn't getting first look on offense or returning kicks. as for me, i do think that ginn will start fall camp on defense but i anticipate him getting his look on offense too and then making the most of a better opportunity to contribute on a full time basis. i really see ginn and bam kind of as our platoon third slot reciever this year. four wides with ginn and bam and all those moves in the middle could be fun too but hamby is dangerour from end too. throw in a guy like branden joe or a healthiest ever lydell ross as a lone back and that offense could threaten then entire field. without a guy like ginn though i don't know that we can make the defense defend the whole field and that means extra attention for santonio holmes.
i was writing and thinking about ted ginn when i decided to watch my film on ginn for the first time in a long time. some of the moves he pulled on high school kids, particularly those he did against massillon perry, are an everyday occurrence for teddy ginn. its like watching michael vick in high school only without the all world arm strength. you gotta expect a major contribution from ginn this year along the likes of a maurice clarett (the NC and all that) or a michael wiley (3 touchdowns the first three times he touched the ball). the guy is going to come in and make lots of plays one way or another. in fact it wouldn't suprise me to see ginn run for a TD, catch a TD, throw a TD, return a pick for a TD, return a fumble for a TD, return a kick for a TD and return a punt for a TD. basically if the ball is around him he will find his way too it and then take it the other way. i wouldn't be shocked at all if he was listed on the ESPN heisman tracker at one point or another this year. seriously though, watch some of the film i shot on him last year and then your tapes of the big33 and army game. we really all need to dig out our number 7 jerseys here. this is going to be amazing this year. i was watching my glenville tapes from last year and i started thinking about HS football this season and how i get to see jamario o'neal take over for ted at glenville. i am not sure and have heard nothing but i gotta think jamario will play qb this year and put up all kinds of offensive highlights each and every game. unfortunately for me, ted sr, and the rest of the buckeye nation lots of the glenville games are on saturday the same as the buckeyes. this really limits my opportunity to see jamario and it puts ted sr possibly at work during his sons first few buckeye games. hopefully the timing of the games works out a little so at least ted sr can see jr play live as much as possible. HS football starts out before the college football regular season so that is big on my mind now. that first weekend of HS football should be pretty good for me getting film for the site. this season could be rough to see all the commits from ohio in action like i did in 2002. i haven't filmed schoenhoft, denlinger, cordle, or boone. i also haven't seen guys like alex daniels, andre amos, adam myers-white, or lawrence wilson yet. with only ten regbular season weeks that is a ton of talent to see adn that doesn't even account for my not having seen chris wells yet. i would also like to see mike hartline, miles schlichter, rudy kirbus, and dan ifft this season to see what is up with the younger qbs in ohio. should be fun this season and it can be for you too if you have a little cash and free time to spare. digital camcorders are as little as three hundred bucks or so now and what kind doesn't matter nearly as much as what type of optical zoom you have either. i use one of the now cheapest digital camcorders out there an old sony digital 8 model and it shoots some fine ass film. the only thing really different with the dv and mini dv types is that the cameras are smaller, but for an extra five hundred bucks or so i think i can lift the extra 12 ounces. i have been doing my curls and all afterall. if anyone out there is interested in filming some high school football for us fellow fans on the net i can help you out. the only real problem is contacting me. i have pretty much given up on the email thing because i get too much to answer and then i get tons of viruses too. the best way to reach me now is probably over on the buckeye planet message boards. you can either ask me a question straight up in a thread or send me a PM. i usually check that board first nowadays. i played poker last night. tournament style texas holdem. i lost the tournament out of the money (middle of the pack) but then i joined some of the other losers and won 50 in a second mini tournament. playing in another tourney tonight at 5. i love having poker pay for my weekend expeses. it is like i am working to party down or somethign. when i feel like i earned it it is all that much more enjoyable. i get to work all day friday and then drive to PA monday night. not looking forward to the drive but the trip should be fun. anyways i really plan on being online probably every day for now on unless i am out of town or struck with the laziness again. seriously though i should be on much much more than i have. our one plant is completely shut down and the main plant is nearly there now too. once we are all settled into the new home things should be looking up for me in the non work department. i can't wait to get back from PA and catch up on all the practice reports from the beginning of fall camp, not that much happens other than showing up the first few days. i should be back in time for the first pads sessions and that is when things will get cracking. anyways i need to pack a bag still today and then play me some poker tonight. tough sunday for sure. i will probably play a little NCAA online today too. i am on xbox as BIATCHabutuka and am always willing to line up my buckeyes against the world. i should be back in the friendly confines of ohio on friday just in time for the weekend. enjoy. 07-08-04 (11:24pm) i have been on vacation from the site if you haven't noticed. work has been unending and that has kept me more than busy. still though it sucks to see the site stagnate like this though and it is time to do a little something about it. i got no plan for an update but i got some energy so lets see what i can crap out tonight. i have been spending most of my nightly buckeye time checking out some of the discussion over at buckeye planet, it is linked in the upper left if you have never been. good site. no pop ups, no cash involved, no ads, good discussion football and otherwise. i highly suggest a visit (especially to the recruiting board as it has quickly become the definitive source for recruiting info for me). i am eagerly awaiting the new NCAA football game by EA sports. i got xbox live this year mainly for this and the new deathmatch james bond (and a few others too i guess). this has me even more pumped up for football this year than ever. the bucks have essentially a new team from the national championship team of 2002 as most of that squad is now in the NFL or a part of the real world like the rest of us suckers. i could probably breakdown the team and what we have coming back and what we have ready to load into the chamber for 2004 but that has been done by everyone else so why repeat shit. instead just a few quick thoughts of mine that aren't out there much in the preseason mags and whatnot. first off the qb. i don't really care who it is. it looks like zwick and that is fine with me, geographically speaking for sure. personally though i like troy smith's game better for this particular team. we will have a young line and his mobility could be an asset. next up tailback. everyone was pumped about antonio pittmans 100 yard performance in the spring game and it was quite good. what impressed me though was the fact that he had a bunch of carries against a college defense and didn't seem to wear down. if pittman is going to step up and be the man he hoped to be by enrolling early in time for spring ball durability is going to be huge. i am still pumped to see e-haw come to campus. i really think he has a chance to be one hell of a tailback in the jim tressel offense as we know it so far. as far as lydell ross and mo hall, the two senior tailbacks on this team, ideally we have a huge senior season for these prized recruits, and past performance is not indicative of future productivity on the football field. branden joe is the wild card in the running back stable, who knows what happens there. recruiting has been going well. the biggest two fish out there for the buckeyes are florida's maurice wells and california's mark sanchez. it isn't often the bucks have targeted what some have ranked as the nations top tailback and quarterback in the nation in the same year. this goes back aways but i don't think the bucks have targeted this type of talent at the marquee positions since the recruiting class of robert smith and joe pickens. ideally this group turns out considerably better, especially in the W column against michigan. wells is the little tailback with the all world moves and the good vision that we desperately need in the backfield. from what i have heard he could be an instant impact type of guy for us in some role for sure, kind of like what ted ginn is going to be for us on offense this year. sanchez is the polished qb who just happens to have the most widely respected qb coach in the nation as his high school coach. you gotta think he is about ready as anyone to push for playing time. while it looks like we have a solid lead for wells and damn near a fifty fifty shot at sanchez i can't get too pumped right now this far from february. i am still pissed about the no bob knight thing. it almost makes you wish assasination was an option for removing university presidents. i mean really, if it is good enough for lincoln isn't it good for pretend doctors / university presidents / females? maybe thad matta can name bob knight his top assistant and then get thrown out before each and every game thereby circumventing the carpetbagger from the south that misrepresents our beloved university. damn andrea the world's dumbest stripper and the reigning miss howard stern is on the E show tonight. this update may just get cut short. dumb and hot is such a great combination. throw in that stupid little voice of hers and man am i interested. i will have to post a pic of her for those that don't get E or like howard. maybe i will post a pic or two of her on the hot chicks thread on buckeye planet tonight. surf over and check it out in the open discussion forum if you want to see a size zero 18 year old honey with fake tits paid for by dad. it is just a shame i can't post an audio clip of her voice. yeah, this update is over for tonight. i am going to find me a pic of andrea and post it on buckeye planet tonight before i crash out. i am going to try to update more often and ideally much more quality in the update here this dead period, but with distractions like andrea on E i can't make any promises. more after work tomorrow if the day doesn't suck half as bad as the last two days. enjoy. 04-17-04 (11:35pm) i just got done processing all the pics i took from the scrimmage today (i didn't make it to columbus in time for the nike camp) and cleaning up the webpage a little bit. i took several hundred pics from the south stands and i got exactly 114 useable pics for the website. mostly headshots and boring stuff like that, but it should spruce up the old bag a little bit if nothing else. anyways, sounds like it is time for some pics.
that pic above is of justin zwick looking over the defense before the snap only to see a qb's worst nightmare anthony schlegel and aj hawk.
the pic above this is air force transfer anthony schlegel. anthony virtually never left the field. he played some with the ones, the twos, and even the threes. he absolutely killed a qb against the third team offensive line. the line blew their assignment and schlegel came threw untouched for a vicious hit. it was one of two hits of the day in my mind. he is certainly as advertised. the other hit of the day was between branden joe and nate salley. tough to tell who really hit who on that one honestly.
the pic above this is coach tressel spending some quality time with struggling qb's justin zwick and troy smith. zwick reverted to many of his bad high school habits (floating his passes, throwing late over the middle, throwing off the back foot....) especially early on in the practice. he did pick it up late and put together one minidrive that wasn't bad. troy smith was dazzling at times with his feet but was off more often than on with the arm. sure his ball looked pretty but if it isn't catchable who cares what it looks like. it is kind of like the hot chick that won't blow you. sure she looks nice but if you can't get any off of it does it really matter? todd boeckman probably looked the best by default and he didn't look good either. i give the qb's a C- at best and that is probably very generous honestly.
it wasn't all the qb's fault today either. bam childress, tony gonzalez, and louis irizarry had serious issues catching the ball. not a good quality for a receiver. bam did have one nifty TD in april of course. considering tony G's experience with massillon qb's like justin zwick, i was suprised he didn't catch every ball zwick threw whether it was to him or not. speaking of receivers, i couldn't find dareus hiley anywhere. not on offense, not on defense, not on special teams, and not on the sideline. i didn't think the first team offensive line looked too bad. sure the defense had its highlights too, but the rookies on the o-line held up their end of the offense. sure the d-line was missing interior guys like david patterson, marcus green, and joel penton but the o-line still held their own against guys like simon fraser, jay richardson, marcel frost, sian cotton, and mike kudla. cotton played a lot with the ones due to the injuries at DT. he looked ok. simon fraser even slid inside for more than a few snaps. first time i remember seeing that. richardson and frost both looked really good but still really raw.
i thought the three most impressive defensive players were the aforementioned anthony schlegel along with corners ashton youboty and ej underwood. man we are stacked at corner. anyways, the pic above this is ashton youboty. the pic below this is ej underwood.
the most impressive player on offense was lydell ross. he had the 80 yard touchdown on his first touch and he was solid the rest of the day too. he even looked more decisive on the whole today in picking his hole. he did dance once instead of just lowering his head and getting those tough big10 yards that we need that i can think of, but i was impressed on the whole. jason caldwell had one really nice catch. he could be a suprise player this year, especially if irizarry continues to drop the ball. marcus freeman looked ok at OLB. the coaches were asking alot of him assignment-wise and he didn't disappoint me, i doubt the coaches were disappointed either. tony pittman looked ok today but man is he tiny. on the other hand man is maurice hall looking thicker even without the pads. there were a few very hot chicks in the south stands today. unfortunately this was our worst chick cam performance ever. no pics to share with the webiste or even personal friends. oh well. anyways, i need to work sunday morning (i have been off paid for the past four days with funeral leave and whatnot so sunday was expected honestly). more after work sunday i hope. enjoy. 04-17-04 (1:30am) again, i have been away from the net for a little too long. me and the cbg had a death in the family after some serious hospital action and surgery and whatnot, but all those loose ends are tied up and i will be back at work starting sunday (yea, sunday). saturday is still mine though. saturday me and the cbg will be in columbus for sure to attend the jersey scrimmage at the shoe at 2pm. there is also the nike camp in the morning but we aren't sure if we will be able to get free of this town and in columbus in time. motivating us even more to not attend is the fact that it is highly unlikely we will be able to see anything or get any pictures at the nike camp. still though if we are both up early enough and there early enough we plan on attending. otherwise we will be at the osu scrimmage for sure. speaking of deaths, a prominent high school football player was shot and killed last night. cleveland benedictine star sophomore wide out lorenzo hunter was murdered last night for no damn reason. another senseless death. hunter wasn't doing anything wrong or involved in anything bad at all it seems. it sounds like he was just hanging out with friends in his cleveland neighborhood and was going home when someone drove by and decided to end his life. ideally if this person(s) is cuaght a jury of his peers will get the same opportunity to end the assailant's life. if you never saw hunter in person you really missed out on a special player and a special human being. osubux11 did video tape one of his games last year and last i checked he had some lorenzo hunter film posted there free for all to enjoy. check it out if you like. anyways i just wanted to update everyone on what has been going on with me and the site. my grandma died and i was away from the net mostly for the last week but i am back now and i will be at the scrimmage for sure saturday afternoon. with any luck at all i will have some new pics for the site to share saturday night before i turn in to bed to get ready to go back to work on sunday. 04-09-04 (1:20am) been away from the web for too long lately. work has been beating my nuts in for the last week big time. it is almost the weekend though and i took a long ass nap after work today so i am up late tonight. figured i might as well make a quick update out of my late night. there is virtually no news leaking out of spring ball, it has me slightly depressed honestly. i need this football fix to get me through the dead period. oh well. i will be at practice the 17th and then the spring game the 24th. i will get my football fix then. at least i haven't heard any new injuries coming out of camp, always a bright side to things. i have started to post the highlights of the recruiting film of VA rb-cb-ath darrieus ramsey. they are in a sony imagestation account much like my film and osubux11's film and as such they are linked in the upper left corner of this page. if you have problems with downloading from sony imagestation check out the faq (for link think upper left corner like all video links of mine). the ramsey film is impressive. he has some great highlights in there and i would definitely recommend checking out the film. i posted 4 clips so far and they are each about 2 minutes long and about a 20 megabyte download. if you have broadband access to the net it should download fairly quickly. if you have phone dial up access it may take an hour to download each 2 minute clip. i know that lots of readers of the site are still stuck on dial up and i won't forget you. i plan on breaking down the highlight tape into much smaller clips like i do for my film that way they will download real quick like regardless fo the crapiness of your connection. the four clips i have posted so far are from the highlights portion of the tape i have. this tape is the same tape that all the college coaches have in their office and watch to evaluate the player. this tape is probably in the ohio state football offices for sure by now (if it isn't and the coaches need it i can help out of course). i didn't re-edit the highlights at all. in fact if you were to watch the four clips in a row (or better yet join them together) you would have an 8 minute video file chock full of highlights. these are the same first 8 minutes of film that a college coach or scout would see when they pop in the tape. as for the quality of the highlights, check them out if you enjoy some sweet runs. he has a really nice marcus allenesque superbowl cutback run in there against the undefeated virginia state champs (the same team that only gave up one TD that season other than the 3 to darrieus ramsey). ramsey's film is on par with just about any other tailback film i have seen or shot. if he were in ohio i would put him ahead of every back in the state (specifically including tyrell sutton, cedric tolbert, greg keys, and the rest) other than javon ringer. i would put ramsey and ringer on the same level. they are different types of backs but of similar quality if that makes sense. personally i think of ringer as a big10 tailback and darrieus ramsey as a big10 cornerback (or possibly even a slot receiver or third down back). i don't doubt his ability to play tailback, i just think he will have a better future at corner (and returning kicks). i would liken ramsey's game and athletic abilities to that of dareus hiley. they are of similar size and speed and both have those jaw dropping moves that make the highlight tapes fun to watch. anyways watch the damn tape and make up your own mind. i am far from a recruiting expert or anything, i merely have access to the same tape and whatnot. as for me, i am going to watch a dvd of curb your enthusiasm (the survivor episode is on right now) that i made. i compressed the film down to fit 6 hours on a dvd and i am highly curious of the playback quality (better than i thought so far; highly watchable). anyways i am going to stretch out and watch the dvd on my new bedroom television and try to get some shut eye. enjoy. 04-01-04 (5pm) it is finally here. spring camp opened up today and i imagine the media type sites will have a brief report later tonight since they were allowed in for a half an hour. me, i was working as usual so i have nothing really to add other than excitement and rumor mongering. some of that either late tonight or this weekend. now off to the news. the real news of the day is the scholarship offer that lancaster ohio OL jim cordle received today. cordle is a big yet not fat lineman type and has been getting lots more attention from the 'experts' and fans lately. i have never seen him play in person myself but osubux11 has and he has free film on him available in his video archive. it is linked right below mine, you know where it is by now i assume, if not think upper left corner. i watched the cordle film and like any OL film that isn't on orlando pace there is nothing to make your jaw drop but it is still nice to see the player in action, especially when the film is free. if you do want to see some better OL footage, check out osubux11's alex boone footage in his archive. anyways cordle's offer brings the number to four ohioans with an offer from coach tressel (along with boone, jamario o'neal, and adam myers-white). i tend to think that we will be reading about a commit from jim cordle here before the end of spring camp but you never know i guess. i just don't see him leaving the state for whatever reason. in site news, i still need to cap off some highlights from the darrieus ramsey (VA rb-cb-ath) tape that i got. i still haven't rewired my system since i moved in december. right now i am set up with the VCR nowhere near the computer making analog capture more than difficult. i will have to either buy a really long red-white-yellow cable or capture the analog on my camcorder and then take the digital video from the camcorder into the computer. ideally i get this done and start posting film by this weekend. if not i will have it done for easter weekend for sure. i still am hanging out often over at the buckeye planet message boards (linked up top in the left, duh). i recently ran a contest over there called 'name, that, celebrity cameltoe!' (hey it is offseason and we needed a game to keep us entertained). we already have a winner for round one but i am going to start up round two toningt. if you are interested in playing or just looking, just head over to buckeye planet and get involved. 'name, that, celebrity cameltoe!' is posted in the romper room. it is an adult section of the open discussion forum. you do need to specifically ask for a seperate password to enter the romper room but the no holds barred language and imagery more than makes up for it. anyways, i need to pic out a good celeb cameltoe pic for later tonight and i think me and the cbg will be partying tonight so i am going to cut it short here. make sure you go check out the jim cordle film in osubux11's archive while it is there. more either tonight or this weekend. happy spring camp to all. check out some of the recent content below (especially if i took the easy way out today and just brought you the news links), i talk about buckeye football nearly every day, barring laziness. every word and picture ever used on this site is in the archive still to this day. well, that is about all for my buckeye thoughts for the day, if that still isn't enough feel free to educate your mind, or try this one. that is all for now, later on. recent content march 2004 archives february 2004 archives january 2004 archives december 2003 archives november 2003 archives october 2003 archives september 2003 archives august 2003 archives july 2003 archives june 2003 archives may 2003 archives april 2003 archives march 2003 archives february 2003 archives january 2003 archives 2002 archived articles 2001 archived articles 2000 archived articles |
